If you could give one piece of advice to the whole solar industry whether that’s a rep, a leader, or an owner, what would that one piece of advice be?
Integrity
I’m going to say integrity. I was moved by your mission of bringing integrity to the door-to-door industry as well. You know, bringing integrity into the industry is such a great accomplishment and allows for trust within a business relationship and allows for us to be more successful. Fast forward you know 10 years and what is going on in Australia is what you will experience in The United States. It can be riddled with so many crooks whether it’s the install team salespeople who are using bad practices to get people over the line. Then at the same time that will get the customers just feeling screwed and everyone is losing altogether, right? It is all just really really bad. So, my advice would be to just you know, to make sure you maintain integrity at all times. Be around those people who do practice that at all times as well. Play the long game. Your reputation is incredibly important. Guard it with your life and be in the right environment that enables that as much as possible, because if you are playing the long game, you won’t lose. You’ll always be working on your work and inevitably you’ll become successful.
Be All In
Go for the generational wealth, right? Just get out there and do it and work hard. Don’t go knock on a door without the mentality that you are all in for the long haul. Don’t do this just to get out of your car, knock on your first door make you know a couple of thousand dollars, and get out of the industry. Do it because there’s just so much crap happening in the world right now. Do it to help your customers. Do it for integrity. Because you know, you sell a customer today, build a relationship, build your family with that customer because they’re going to help you achieve those bigger goals that you have in life. By achieving that stuff you’re just going to help the people around you as well. They’re going to see what you are becoming and think “Wow this guy’s got it together. This guy or girl’s on track to success.” And it just becomes possible for others to achieve as well.
Go Fast
I know I am kind of new to the game. I am two years into the solar industry game, but my advice is to go fast. I am only 2 years in and I have found incredible success. But, go fast super fast. Stop knocking four hours a day. Just go hard. Knock 8, 10, 12 hours a day. Go fast and build generational wealth. Look at Sam. The dude has buildings we don’t even know about. He had a basketball court that we didn’t even know about. This dude’s been knocking on doors his whole life. Dude, bro, I drive a rolls-royce and I live in a million-dollar home. It took me six months to get this. Did I fight with my wife a little bit because I showed up at work so much? Yeah, I did. But, does she love living in a million-dollar home? Yeah, she does. She is out driving her Escalade and she loves it. Just stop going at a slow speed. If you want to get to the top, it won’t happen going the speed you’re going. Don’t take your time for granted. Go zero to a hundred, zero to a thousand real quick because this is going to pass you by and you’re going to be the guy that remembers that month you did 50 grand. Put some urgency into your work and shoot for some deadlines today. You need to be doing this instead of procrastinating the success.
