What’s up guys? Sam Taggart here. Today we are going to teaching little kids more of the street smarts, instead of the book smarts. One of the things we found is that, some of the kids who were excited about entrepreneurship, YouTube, and they’re like, how do we learn how to do what you’re doing? They’re like, do you got a YouTube channel? Like, of course we do. So, we taught ’em how to knock. We taught them solar alarms, roofing, pest control, and alarms. It was pretty epic. If I can get out in the streets and teach kids how to sell door to door, I can certainly teach you. So, go check us out at the D2D Experts. Check out the university, subscribe to this YouTube channel and get the pointers you have been looking for when it comes to selling door to door. Here are some of the key things we taught these kids on their first ever sales outing. Check it out.
Go For It
The first thing I taught these girls, whether they realized it or not, was to just get out there and go for it. I just said, hey, let’s go pretend to sell door to door. They didn’t even know what they were selling and they were like, ya, we can try selling door to door. They we ready to go for it and try something new. Did they have any idea what they were doing in the beginning? No. Did they catch on? They sure did. They even surprised me with some of their answers. You might find that you surprise yourself, but you won’t know if you don’t get out there. These girls learned that they are more than capable of selling door to door and making money at a young age. For you to learn the same, it should be simple, right? I totally is that easy. All you have to do is get out there, get going, and see what happens when you take action. You have to hit the streets because, there is no way to learn door approach without actually knocking doors. You can practice and do all the role playing you want, but it is not the same as the door. Learning all of techniques, one liners, and practicing what to say in your head are great to get yourself started, but it does not compare to knocking on a door. Get yourself in the streets and go for it, just like these little girls did!
Be Confident
I did not train them with much of what to say, but some of these girls were very confident in their approach. I told the one girl, look, I don’t have $10,000 and what was her answer? “Yes you do.” That answer was a jackpot answer. She might not have known it, but when you approach the door, you have to be confident in what you are selling, confident that it is worth the investment, and confident that the owners should want to pay for the product. It doesn’t matter what you are selling, if the product has value, the customer should have money for it and you can call their bluff, like she called mine. You don’t have money for an alarm system to protect your family? Yes, you do. You don’t have money to buy your own electricity? Yes, you do. You don’t have the money to fix your leaking roof? Yes, you do. Be confident in your product and it will show the customer, hey, this is not some scam, they really believe this is worth their time, my time, and my money.ย
Practice
Did you notice how I had most of the girls go back out and retry their sales pitch? I wanted them to see how they could get better at this and that this is something they could actually be successful in. And did you see how fast they caught on and how fast they were able to get better at their approach? I want you to know the same thing applies to you. You can catch on that fast and you can get better at your approach, close, pitch, whatever you are working on, just as fast as these girls did. Did they become a professional in door sales? No, because that takes practice. But, did you see them become better? You sure did. I asked them to go out and fine tune that door approach, because you can always make it better. No matter how long you have been doing door to door sales, or anything, you can always make it better. I really wanted to show these girls how to practice what they learned and how to make it a tad bit better each time. I recommend the same to you. Practice your pitch. Practice your close. Practice your door approach. You need to role play, like we did in this video, but most importantly, you need to actually practice on a real door and with a real live customer. The more you practice on real doors and apply what you learn from our university, your mentor, or whatever you learned, the better you will get. I promise you cannot go wrong when it comes to applying what you learn and practicing that over and over. The amount of practice you put in is directly correlated to the amount of success you will find at the door. You want to close more doors? You will need to put more hours into practicing at the door.
Believe in Yourself
Alright, lastly, believe in yourself. Did I tell these girls that there is not a chance they could learn this? No! Why? Because I want them to believe they are capable in selling door to door. I want them to believe in themselves. If they don’t believe in themselves, are they going to be willing to try? They sure won’t. This same thing applies to you. If you do not believe in yourself, you won’t try. If you don’t try you won’t go anywhere. Did this probably feel a little uncomfortable for these girls, trying something new? I am sure it did. New things can be challenging. But, challenging things are what make us better. When we believe in ourselves and get out of our comfort zone, you go places you never thought you could. Without these girls realizing it, I taught them that they actually believe in themselves enough to try something new. Getting out of your comfort zone at a young age like this will lead to these girls believing more and more in themselves as they get older. These girls won’t be so afraid to put themselves in a position where they will be uncomfortable again because they have witnessed what happens when they believe in themselves. Now, you might not be as young as these girls, but you can do the same for yourself. The earlier you get out there, get yourself in an uncomfortable position where you need to believe in yourself, the better you will be equipped to put yourself in this situation in the future. The more you believe in yourself, the more you will find success by taking those chances. People who believe in themselves take chances and they find success. Will they fail sometimes? Sure, but, that won’t stop them because they believe in themself!
I hope that watching these little girls helped you think ok, if they can do this, so can I. The truth is that it really isn’t hard, it is hard mentally, but it is not hard to tell yourself to go sell. You have to have a tough mindset, believe in yourself, be consistent in your practice, be confident, and really just go for it.
