My Unexpected Detour: From Aviation Dreams to Sales Stardom

Let’s rewind to 2003. As a Utah State University student, my eyes were set on the skies; I was training to be a pilot. But fate and craving free pizza led me to a turning point. A friend’s invite to a meeting (yes, the pizza was the initial draw!) opened my eyes to a whole new world – the dynamic and lucrative realm of door-to-door sales. 

The Spark that Ignited my Career

I remember it vividly – the charismatic presenter with spiked hair, driving a BMW, showcasing his success in a well-crafted PowerPoint presentation. His tale of making $25,000 in just four months was inspiring. It was a lightbulb moment for me, even though I walked in without intending to dive into sales. 

Taking the Leap: My First Foray into Sales

After that meeting, I found myself signing up to sell pest control. I was the only one from my group who got hired, and though I didn’t go out that summer, it set the stage for what was to come. A year later, a friend’s success in selling satellites pulled me back into the sales orbit. I took the plunge, and to my surprise, I emerged as the top rep in the top office, selling Dish Network. I was hooked! 

The Mercedes Days: Rising Through the Ranks

That first successful summer in sales was just the beginning. I returned, driving a Mercedes, living a life I’d never imagined. The company’s culture, the thrill of the sale, the satisfaction of success – it was exhilarating. I quickly moved up to a manager’s role, leading one of the most successful offices in the company. 

Broadening Horizons: From Alarms to Fiber

As the landscape evolved, so did I. I ventured into selling alarm systems for several years, but my true passion lay in telecommunications. The launch of Vient Wireless was a game-changer for me. I took on the sales manager role, leading teams to sell thousands of residential internet accounts. 

Finding My Niche: The Fiber Boom

My heart has always had a soft spot for residential fiber. The simplicity and effectiveness of the product, the ease of training new reps, and the immediate impact on their earnings – it was a perfect fit. I joined Rise Broadband and created an internal door-to-door sales team, scaling it rapidly.

Building and Nurturing Sales Teams

My journey has been about more than just making sales. It’s about nurturing talent, from seasoned pros to those just starting. I’ve taken people from various walks of life and shown them how to impact their careers significantly through telecom sales.
