I’m gonna focus on recruiting. I’ve noticed in the roofing space, it’s hard to go recruit a big team. So, big focus on recruiting today. How do you recruit a big team in roofing?

Warm Market

All of my friends, if they don’t do this job, they’re destined for life failure. This will teach them the life skills that will slingshot them for life. If I don’t introduce this to them, and they don’t try this, even if they didn’t make great money, even if they just did it for four months, sucked. Lost all their money, They learned that they can deal with the rejection or can’t, and they learned something about themselves and the experience was worth the time in and of itself. That right there is  how you convince. You have got to convince you friends and family it is worth their time and that they will learn valuable life skills, even if this is not their long term profession. But, how do they know if this is what they want to do unless they try? They don’t. If you aren’t talking to all of your warm market, your friends and family, and tell them about this opportunity, you are being selfish. You have got to give them the opportunity to succeed. You never know what will happen.

Recruit In Every Conversation

Raise your hand if you walk around and the waiter gives you your food, and you’re sitting there like, Dude, let me tell you about a great job opportunity. You don’t even know. We have got to meet you. I  have got something for you. Then you set up an appointment to talk to them and give them a chance to make so much more than they currently are. Or, what about when you are sitting in your Uber driver’s car and he is like, Hey, man, what do you do? You’re like, Well, I just, you know, I’m in the home contract industry and we’re actually looking for people to come work for us. Are you stoked on Uber? Like, literally every conversation is about how do I enroll you into my business that’s recruited.

Don’t Settle For Low Hanging Fruit

It is not like I have this brilliant indeed posting that just somehow attracted all this talent. I hate to break it to you guys. Indeed is great, but you’re looking for all the low hanging fruit that couldn’t get the normal job. So, then they went with the door to door job posting, and they’re desperate for a job. Do I want the people that are desperate for a job? Or do I want the people that are hardly successful at what they do and help them become more successful with a better vehicle? Obviously the more successful. The ones on Indeed, they’re typically go from job to job. You know what I mean? I love Indeed, but it’s not my primary way of recruiting. My primary way of recruiting is the waiter that’s sitting there making 15 bucks an hour. I’m like, I will change your life. Meet with me. Let’s go to lunch.
