What’s up guys. It’s Sam Taggart. I’m gonna talk about sketchy things door to door sales people do, so you don’t do that. And then you can call other people out that do the stupid stuff. Cause I’ve seen some crazy crap in our own industry. My mission is to unify, up level, and bring some honor and integrity to what we do. So, if you’re doing this stuff, cut it out. If you know people doing these things, cut it out.
#1: Over promise and under deliver
The first thing is we over promise and we under deliver. We talk about, you know, we sell the customer. We’re like, dude, you know, what’s gonna happen. You’re getting an alarm system. It’s gonna protect you from aliens and it’s gonna protect you from bears. And if somebody comes on your yard, a Baah shoots ’em and your tech will be here in 20 minutes. And then all of a sudden they get like none of that. So, that’s like something we just do. I mean, I over exaggerated obviously, but just make sure you set the right expectations. It’s okay to, to say, Hey, the install’s gonna take three months. That’s okay. Right? And then it takes two. You look like the good guy.
#2: Falsifying credit
The second one is just this like stupid thing of falsifying credit, falsifying customers. Like I’ve seen people literally like put in fake accounts and it’s like really gotta like fidge to actually like be a top producer. So, like make sure that you just sell clean deals, clean business.
#3: Stupid sign-on bonuses
And the third one is like the stupid sign-on bonuses. Like, it’s so funny to watch people get these sign-on bonuses. And then literally two weeks later, suck, come up with an ever excuse, be broke, spend it, then go to a different company or go, you know, just leave and disappear. Then they’re like, who could text the manager who, uh, better like disappear block my number. And it’s like, literally that’s called theft. That is called straight up. I went to the candy store, took a bunch of candy bars, but thousands of dollars I’ve watched it gone. And so if you feel good about just stealing somebody’s money, you agree to do a deal. Usually if you get any kind of money, there’s a contingency associated with it. You’ve gotta sell this many accounts. You gotta stick for this long fulfill your stinking contract. So we actually created a company called the sales blacklist.com. If you’re a manager leader watching this sales, blacklist.com go put those people on. So there’s an actual accountability. So, other people don’t hire those scumbags. That’s the facts.
#4: Switching accounts
So then the last one is just literally I’ve seen reps like switch over their own accounts, like owning and running businesses. Like you’re just sitting there going, Hey, cancel your service right now. And then we’ll sign you up with the same company. It’s like, really? Like, you’re gonna have to go sell old customers themselves over again so that you get a stat and get paid. It’s like, that’s straight up robbery as well. So don’t switch over your own customers. I’ve just seen all sorts of other stupid stuff, like doing stupid stuff with customers, doing stupid stuff in the area. Um, I, you know, I, when I was young immature, I’ve like broken a guy’s sign one time, like, you know, I’ve done some stupid stuff. I can’t say I’m perfect, but at the end of the day, like we’re representing a tribe now. So make sure you are honorable and, have high integrity and promote that because I promise we can help this industry together. That’s my mission.
Like, my mission is to make this thing great again, like let’s bring door to door and make it cool. So like customers actually respect us. Get good training, do it, right. Like let’s go guys. For more information, on how to do it, right. That’s why we’ve got the university. That’s why we’ve got, you know, the podcast. We’ve got a lot of good things promoting the right way to do it, to make a lot of money in this.
