Okay, so you got your break and entered the industry. Now what? How exactly do you start selling door to door? Many people say, ‘ I want to sell. ‘ I get hit up all the time and they’re like, Well, I don’t even know where to go or what to sell or how do I get started or what company?

Situation
The first one is, what’s your situation?
It has to do with some people wanting to move. Some people are broke as heck. Some people have money in the bank, some have families and kids, and they don’t wanna knock at night. Some people wanna work during the day. Some people enjoy traveling; others dislike it. Determine your situation, as the product and company will dictate what that looks like. If you have a company that’s just a summer program, you’re working for four or five months, and that’s very common in the door-to-door industry. If you’re like me, you need to earn money throughout the year. I’m not in school.
I want to make a career out of a year-round program; then you’ll want to do something a little more year-round. All industries have programs for that, but certain companies specialize in different programs. So, you want to ensure you’re picking the right company, which leads me to the second point.
Pick A Product
Selecting an industry or product area is essential. For some, a change of scenery is beneficial; the familiarity of one’s neighborhood can often hinder sales discipline. Relocating even just 15 minutes away can commit you more fully to the job. For those who can’t move, making the most of the local market is crucial. Choosing a product to sell depends on your experience and preferences.
Products such as pest control, waste management, and satellite services offer higher sales volumes with quicker turnover. At the same time, industries such as solar, roofing, home improvements, and windows typically involve lower sales volume but yield larger commissions per sale.
Pick A Company
Okay? So, now, number three is that you have to say, ‘ Okay, let’s pick the company. ‘ Now, a lot of you guys might not know who the companies are. Every company’s always hiring. They’re looking for talented people who are ambitious and hungry.

Get Trained
Let’s say you sign up with a company; you gotta go get trained. Now, I have an online university. If you want to get a deep dive into the nuts and bolts, be sure to visit the company with a training program. We have over 100 companies that use our program. You’d be surprised, and many more sign up, but you could sign up as a single user. However, some companies will say, ‘Come work here, and good luck. ‘ And they throw you to the wolves.
I would avoid that company; I really would, because it shows that they don’t take the time or invest in their people and training. If you’re looking for someone who wants to be legitimate, ensure you have legitimate training.
Go Hustle
The last step is to hustle. So many people start door to door and fail because they never actually turn on their hustle muscle. They never fully dive in, never fully commit, and are not willing to do the gritty work and the grind it takes to succeed in this industry. Those that do and say, I’ve got a train, I’ve got the right company, I’ve got the opportunity, you’re driving the Lambo, some drive it in eighth gear, some drive it always in first gear. This is a great opportunity. I don’t care what industry you’re in, it’s a great opportunity cause you get to eat what you kill and there are no limits. I know people who have made millions of dollars in this industry. You can too. It’s up to you whether you choose to do it or not.
